Getting the details ready.

There’s something about lemons, isn’t there? Every artist I know at some point paints/draws/photographs lemons. There’s something alluring about the color, texture, shape that begs to be made into art. They also have become symbolic for resilience through the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” When I drew this, I was having a particularly hard day, struggling to juggle all of the responsibilities I have as a wife, mother, friend, homemaker… and my time for creating, for being an artist, just kept getting pushed back. It’s easy to deprioritize things like art, isn’t it? Especially when there are “important” things to get done. I had to stop, take a deep breath, and realize that I needed to put intentional time into myself, into my art too. Because here’s the thing about lemons… they don’t spontaneously turn into lemonade, do they? Every step of the lemon -> lemonade process takes intentional effort to create something beautiful (or, well, yummy.) Anyway, deep thoughts for my tiny art. I hope you love it! Drawn with colored pencils of 110 lb/230 GSM Cold Press paper, 2.5 x 3.5 inches Signed and dated with color swatches of the Prismacolor colored pencils I used
