Graphite, watercolor, and ink 2.5" x 3.5" "Red skies at night, sailors delight. Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning." Each person's unique experiences throughout their lifetime shapes them into becoming one-of-a-kind individuals. The most common of phrases can stick with us for years and years. Each time the sun sets a brilliant red, I am reminded of my late uncle who would, without fail, recite that poem. That side of the family is from a tiny little fishing town on the east coast. In the summertime, we would sail up and down the Chesapeake Bay in one of his friend's old boats; him, his brother, my grandmother and mother, and my cousin... six people sharing a 20' space with only the sea and stars and stories to entertain them. RIP Gary. Thank you for the unforgettable summers. I'll always remember your recipes you taught me on that boat. He was a really funny guy with a huge heart. I made this piece to share a bit of his legacy with others.
