Getting the details ready.

I use a mix of handpainted and found papers in my tiny mixed media collages to explore color and composition and to challenge myself to go outside my comfort zone. I use text as a visual element rather than for what it actually says (though I do use phrases and sentences that feel delightful in my head). Often the words have no apparent connection to the images in the collage. “Death of the artist” is a philosophy I adhere to; I believe that once art is put out into the world, the artist has no say in how viewers interpret the work. Keeping any personal meaning obscure by using unrelated text allows as much room as possible for each viewer to form their own ideas, rather than me telling them what to think. Made in Asheville, NC. ** Please note that while care has been taken to ensure colors are as true-to-life as possible, all screens are different, and colors may appear slightly different in person.**
