Bomb Pop- Inspired by Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA"

Inspired by Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In the USA”, this original one of a kind ACEO features a retro futuristic rocket ship depicted in a stained glass style motif surrounded by red white and blue points of light on a dark background This ACEO is the second in my “Wet, Hot, American Sarcasm” collection which features a total of 6 cards inspired by songs people tend to think are patriotic, but aren’t. Born In the USA is by far one of the most misunderstood songs in the history of music. People think it’s about being proud to be American, but it is actually about the struggles of the working class. The song also references the Vietnam War, which caught my attention because of the juxtaposition of major historical events when during that magical “Summer of Love” in 1969 we went to the moon “in peace for all mankind” while in the midst of a brutal war. The fact that rockets were a key feature in both events, coupled with the fact that they took place during the “Golden Age” of science fiction which promised a brighter future for humankind built on technology and space exploration, is what made me choose a rocket motif for this particular card, but it is a stylized, toy-like rocket, fragilely built of hopes and dreams and easily drawn off course by any one of the bright distractions flickering around it. We can either create or destroy with the power we hold in our hands, it says a lot about human nature that we often choose to do both at the same time. This original, one of a kind ACEO was made on acid free, archival quality, cold pressed water color paper with fine art grade acrylic paints and inks that will not fade, crack or peel. Additionally the piece is coated with a high quality professional varnish for added protection. The back of the card serves as a built in certificate of authenticity, featuring the title, artist’s signature, date of completion and naming the artist and song that inspired it. Item comes in a plastic sleeve for storage.
