Getting the details ready.

One in my favorite features of Chicago are the alleyways dissecting each block; neighbors to the right, left, and back of every home. Most people's first impressions of the neighbors behind them is their garages, which are highly variable in style across different regions of the city. My own, depicted here in the first painting of the Sunsoaked series, is a rather old structure with faded gray roofing and painted red siding. For the nearly two decades I've lived here, this has always been my view of the alley. Sunsoaked in the morning light, the red garage creates a rather striking contrast against the blue and pink dawn.
