Steeped in Suds is card three of four in my Uninvited Tea Guests collection, whose general policy is: “We weren’t invited. Your security was embarrassing.” Some guests see a beautiful teacup and think tea. This duck saw one and immediately decided the good china would make an excellent private bath. By the time anyone noticed, the bubbles were already multiplying, tea service had been suspended, and Steeped in Suds appeared far too comfortable to consider relocating. Asked whether there might be a problem with using someone else’s cup this way, the response was immediate: “Relax. I rinsed first.” I wanted this piece to capture the kind of confidence that comes from being completely comfortable with a decision no one else was consulted about. The duck has no regrets.
